Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai

I think i'll start the thread.

Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai is a great manga about a brother(Kyosuke Kosaka) and his sister(Kirino) living under the same roof with their parents. One day Kirino dropped a game and Kyosuke finds it only to discover that it's a hentai PC game that's a "little sister"-themed eroge called "Stardust Witch Meruru"(ironic i know). So after Kirino found out she showed him an entire collecton of every merchandise of the same name( games, manga, anime, figures, posters, etc.) she's a major otaku. So anyway Kirino tells her brother to keep it a secret from anyone especially seeing as she models.

that's just the gist of it and it goes on from there. It's a definite must read and there's the anime version too on youtube which consists of 12 episodes. It reminds me of Bakuman it has a similar reference to this but a little more serious.

One of the more appealing aspects of the series is that it is rife with anime references. The entire series focuses on otaku culture, so manga, anime, light novels, VNs, and more are all referenced near-constantly. In some ways, it challenges your knowledge of other anime and manga... the story is very enjoyable even if it's the first you've seen, but it's even more hilarious when you know what each referenced product is a parody of.

I wouldn't get most of the parallels but I can see that her friend "Kuro-neko" who dresses in gothic loli fashion and has a sour personality is a lot like Kuro-chan in KnJ. Imouto reminds me a little of Kyono Amahara in Chu-Bra.

My friend Usagi is going to hand me "Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai" ....(Phew.....short name, don't you think XD) and Strike Witches season 2. I've been not able to watch new Anime series for a while, so I decided to give them a try.

I wish I got more of the references but I'm enjoying reading the manga and watching the anime. Probably because the girls are so cute, this series seems to have inspired an incredible number of dakimakura (hugging pillows) and doujins. eBay is kind of cluttered with them...

I heard they are going to release 2 OVAs I think next month so that's something I look forward to but im just rereading and watching the series.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I just love all the anime references in this manga and that it's SO today.
