This thread will be discussing Dance in the Vampire Bund manga which just has just been adapted into anime series. This is a great super-natural series by Nozomu Tamaki that's still in progress (at the time of this posting). It's the story about a vampire princess named Mina Tepes who establishes a vampire safe-haven called the 'Bund' in a special district of Tokyo. Along with her trusted guard Akira Kaburagi, Mina makes the Bund public knowledge and not all are happy about it.
I'd like peoples opinion on this series. *NO SPOILERS PLEASE*

I picked up Volume 1 of the manga and while it was strange, I enjoyed it enough to order more volumes. Mina Tepes is an imperious queen with great power who looks pretty much exactly like a 12 year old girl. And has sexy designs on a friend who has known her since (his) child-hood. I don't know how old Mina Tepes is, she apparently doesn't age. Normally supernatural sorcery-type mangas turn me off, but this one is clever and interesting.

Wow! I didn't think anyone was going to respond after all this time. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've read up to volume 9, and eagerly waiting for number 10. The story is very addictive, and the character designs are great (IMO). I not only love the main characters, but the supporting ones as well (i.e-Vera, who is Mina's aid). You're ceratainly right about Mina having it bad for Akira. This is one of the things that freaks some people out, because she looks to be a grade school girl. However, due to her being a vampire, her true age is questionable. Stick with it, it gets even better.

@Sam -- did you also see the anime? It's available online, and I watched the first episode, which is a departure from the manga. A TV panel discussion of whether vampires are real, which amusingly includes the manga's author as one of the discussants. That was also kind of fun. Naturally there are twists and surprises.

@Ugetsu- Actually I did watch the anime version, and loved it. The character designs were beautifully rendered and most of the story was faithful to the manga. If you keep following both versions, you'll notice a drastic change for one of the supporting characters. Personally, I think some variations are good, so things don't become too predictable. Just my opinion though.

I made a mistake and started a new thread discussing DVB (sorry Ugetsu) without even thinking to check for an existing one
![]() I just started reading this manga 2 days ago and I'm already at chapter 38~ It's incredibly good and keeps getting better!! The story is developing very nicely in my opinion. I really enjoy watching Mina & Akira's relationship grow, she's very clearly jealous of the girls Akira is friends with I don't wan't to give anything away, but I have high hopes for future chapters^^
