I just scanned Chu-Bra Step 41. Nothing about Kiyono and Amane this time.

Rather Keigo (no-nonsense older brother of Nayu) wants to talk to Mizuno-sensei (Nayu's teacher). Mizuno (a clone of Houin-sensei in KnJ) is head over heels for Keigo, whom she knew when they were in school together, but he barely notices that she exists. It is basically the Houin-Aoki dynamic from KnJ. The chapter just basically plays that theme out.

FWIW -- I have started on pages 19-24. This is mostly a serious conversation between Keigo and Mizuno. I had noticed that when Kiyono is "talking like a grown-up" there are lots of kanji. Well, here we have two "otonas" talking and it's like a dense thicket of kanji. Keigo even uses the word "ore" 俺　for "I" which is not in one of my dictionaries at all!! Fortunately I also have a really big fat dictionary. At any rate it is going slowly but it promises to reveal why Nayu was walking around with no panties in the early pages.

Obviously the author is using this plotline to draw as many really hot sexy pictures of Mizuno as she can...

Ugetsu

I did 19-24, and then decided that I had to do 18 as well. We don't get any actual explanation for Nayu's odd behavior in the early pages of Step 41. We do see that Mizuno discusses her "love" life with another teacher, Takatou sensei.

Mizuno is thinking, in "real life" she is wiping away a tear. In her thoughts she is naked, cupping her breasts, and in another vignette she has her eyes closed, kissing Keigo.

Both of them are sitting side by side on a park bench thinking. Keigo looks up. It is not clear whether Mizuno is thinking or Keigo is talking. I think maybe this is Keigo talking.

Keigo is sitting beside Mizuno on the bench, arms crosse, looking down as he speaks.

K. If your clothes or underpants are prickly, what do you do..

Google translates chiku-chiku as "prickly." It often has something to do with sewing. ??

Now Keigo is wide eyed, looks almost annoyed.

Mizuno is standing in front of Keigo, M. looks enthusiastic, Keigo is very closed, arms still crossed, scowling. In Chu-Bra, when someone gets excited about their speculation, they are nearly always wrong.

Now we see Mizuno's thoughts, there are young heads of Mizuno and Keigo, but a present-day Mizuno crying

Keigo has his eyes closed, at last he looks satisfied, and he is smiling

Scene shifts back to Mizuno's home, which is a little depressing, it looks like a motel, and she is talking on the phone to her fellow teacher, Takatou-sensei. Evidently she has just told her the whole story about her meeting with Keigo.

T. Hey? And that's all that happened?

うん。。
un..
M. Yeah

なーんだ「ついに食われちゃった」とか

T. Well, "I finally got kissed" or something

Mizuno is on her bed talking on the phone, she's shocked and stuffs a hand down between her legs

Nayu is looking surprised, Keigo is looking embarrassed, he is holding a box and sort of trying to conceal it -- it says 小豆 azuki, the kind of red beans used in Sekihan.

あれ？　あずき？　ひょっとしてお赤飯？　何のお祝い?
are? azuki? hyotto shite o-sekihan? Nan-no o-iwai?
Nayu: Huh? Azuki beans? You're making Sekihan? What are we celebrating?

ちがつ　これは！　賞味期限切れてて
chika-tsu kore-wa! shoumi kigen kiretete!
K. This? Not now! It's past its expiration date!

I think I decided I need to get this month's Comic High.

Nakata Yumi did 2 Kiyono chapters in a row on Kiyono. So mentioning that Keigo Hayama has an open-air school, and Mizuno might bump into him -- I think this story is probably going to continue, and Mizuno's doubts only make me more certain that something will happen sooner or later.

Ugetsu

Because of those printer cartridge bombs from Yemen, the US is not allowing packages larger than 16 ounces to be airmailed into the country. Guess what that means?

I can't get Comic High -- it has to be the slow surface route which takes months.

SIGH.

Ha, maybe I should start ordering it instead. At least here in France the people are not such idiots, even though the President was targeted by one of these packages, including another from Greece.

I see. Takatou-sensei, we see her at the start of Step 28. She looks a lot like Amane, especially in the small head-shot. 高遠先生

My scanner came as part of my printer, not even a particularly expensive printer.

I don't mind buying Comic High, in a way I am thinking that I have a sequence of chapters of other mangas that I haven't gotten interested yet -- and if I decide I like one of those others then I'll have several chapters to play around with.
