When this came from Netflix, my wife asked "how did you hear about this?" and I didn't remember. I probably put it on the queue on July 24 when I first saw Katame's topic. Thank you Katame!! Really enjoyed it, as I have said elsewhere.

I do have a Blu-Ray player but I think obtaining the Blu-Ray here would be too complicated and expensive. It was totally easy to get the DVD from Netflix, though.

You are very welcome ugetsu.I'm glad that you enjoyed the story.Also The Ocean Waves, PORCO ROSSO ,almost every Ghibli story is a beautiful love story.

And about the BD,yes I feel sorry for you.US is just too far from Japan.The BD itself is really with a nice price,compare to the other anime.But the shipment probably will cost you even much more than the goods itself.But don't worry,Ghibli works have a big chance to be released a local english version in US,I think.They have close partnership with disney so maybe just sometime you will find it in your vedio stores.BD version is definitly worth to own.Wait for the chance ugetsu,and good luck.

I think that there are also "region codes" that could prevent me from playing Japanese DVDs. Although I think in Japan they use NTSC and not PAL, right, so aside from the region code, the disk should work. Maybe no English subtitles?

@ugetsu
Region codes are only a problem for DVD,in BD US and Japan are in the same region A.So no problem.And sub will not be problem at all.It have English sub English 5.1ch soundtrack.Well,it even have Chinese sub and sound tracks in both mandarin and cantonese.Ghibli believes their anime belongs to the world.Not like other anime makers just focus the domastic market.

And the price here is 5K+ in serveral online shop.Not the same price,but basicly near 6Kyen.So plus shipment and other cost $117 is very reasonalbe to me,even a little bit supprised.And I think the if there is a local version then it will be much cheaper than the Japanese one.See samurai champloo BD box.English ver is released earlier than Japanese ver,at a price $25.49,and in amazon Japan it's 20Kyen after price off.
Japanese ver
American ver

tentimes I don't believe it.Again richer Americans can have the BD cheaper than Japanese.But I think it's a wonderful idea to promote the official goods with a affordable price.If they can do the same in China,I swear to god lots of Chinese will buy the official ones rather than the low quality pirates.
