Default Whisper of the heart, now on BD
Original name is Mimi wo simaseba. Now it's on BD.I saw this movie many years ago and was really touched.Compare to DVD the newly released BD has much more detail and great depth of sound.

Check it out on disney Japan:
?????? | ??????????????DVD

In memory of the passed away director Yoshifumi Kondo.
It's a lovely story and thank you very much for bring it to us.

OK,get it while you can. This is absolutely one of the best work of Ghibli. And according to the users bought it, the BDlization is very successful. It's a 1995 movie. So you must be very impressed when watch it in 1080p and a Dolby true HD 5.1 surround sound.I have to mention that the original DVD version is not good.Compare to other Ghibli DVDs it has much more noticeable noise in the scene. But now it's solved, and for the first time we can really get deep into that lovely and dreamlike pure love story.1995 I was a young middle school student then, just like the herorine, it's a sentimental age.Now it all gone but I can keep this movie as one of my sweet memory of student age.

Hope you like it too.

I like a good love story, I'm not sure why but I'm always craving a romantic story. I can't wait to watch this!

I forgot to mention that the BD is with english 5.1 DTS sound track and english sub.It even has a mardarin sound track but in 2.0ch,though I don't really need it.

And the newly made Japanese original sound track is 5.1 DTS-HD LOSSLESS.

Also 2.0ch LPCM

Any of them is much greater sound than DVDs.

So like Ugetsu said it's good to have look on Netflix or elsewhere and decide whether you like it or not.If you like the story, then why not BD.The sound will be different and also Netflix can't give you a full 1080p view of it. Don't worry about there is not enough detail for 1080p,Ghibli is the best anime maker for the 1080p because they always make realworld like anime that has too many details. In DVD era, they made compromise, now they don't have to.

Well, buy BD or not.At least watch it once. It won't let you down.Enjoy!

Good choice! And Ghibli is upconverting their works to BD continuously.More will be avalible in the future.Another one of my favorite is 「海が聞こえる」(The Ocean Waves). It's not on BD yet.I've got the DVD,but absolutely will buy BD if it released someday. And all release will be at a 27% discount in the first few week or month at Amazon. So if you are after any of these Ghibli BDs make it quickly when they are released.. 27%off is not a little money.
