Currently, we've been bombarded constantly with spambots, we've got few ways to deal with them, we have to wait for someone with a banhammer to wipe them out and delete their posts, yet the threads still remain... -_-U

We're currently facing a threat known as "Spamnation." (Pun off of old word, "Damnation", referring to condemnation to eternal punishment in hell, which is an event referred to as "Judgment Day." "Judgment Day" also being known to refer to the "Apocalypse" (which is essentially considered the same thing as the previous two mentioned things), which is often regarded as the time for the end of humanity.)

Essentially, with this pun, I'm saying that the spambots are invading to condemn us for primarily existing. They are a threat to us, and hence, must be wiped out.

Everyone knows this, and a thread has already been made by nitrogen in regards to getting a new moderator.

Moving on... We all want to do something about it. This thread is perfect for ranting out on your hatred for these mindless spambot programs, if you want. Or, you can declare war on the spambots through this thread. Overall, this is just to chat about the threats of Spamnation and about the nuisances of the spambots.

This is EXACTLY what I mean! See, people?

EDIT: I've compiled a list of evil spambots. Should we take the cybersteampunk RPG idea of a world where an evil mastermind, known only as "CCV" or "CVV" is seeking to take over the world with his evil spambots, these would be the robot names.

Okay, so... for the Cybersteampunk RP idea, if anyone's up to it:

Spambots that create threads only: Primary commanders.
Spambots that create and post in threads: Secondary Commanders/Head Slaughterers.
Spambots that only post in threads: Primary Slaughterers.

Spambots that only fill in "about me" and don't do anything else: Defective spambots. Talk to themselves and no one else, and don't really do anything.

Why not require a moderator's or admin's approval before a user can post?

This is a discussion thread, not a suggestion thread. And, mods/admins aren't around often enough in the first place. So, in a particular thread, it was discussed that new mods and/or admins would be needed.

How in the universe do you think your suggestion would work if the mods and admins are never here? The last admin I've seen post recently was Stoner, and he hasn't been posting and such in a while. That doesn't mean he isn't here, though it means he's got his hands full, and perhaps a busy life, so he mostly just clears out spambot posts from threads made by people. Even so, well, doesn't help much.

The active members would have a chance to erase all the posts made by spambots. So, by making active members moderators/administrators for the purpose of keeping the forum clean, then a lot more can get done and then we'd have fewer spambot troubles.

This thread is about expressing frustrations and such because of spambots, so feel free to do so here. Also, I'm listing most all the spambots. (Even defective ones.) So, you can point out which one gave you the most trouble and essentially throw out your frustrations here. The list is updated almost daily.

As far as I know, Stoner is the admin and the only one who can unleash the Banhammer. I have heard Sayo actually has this same authority, but you'll have to ask New or Ugetsu. They're the veterans around here.

Sayo cannot create/approve new admins. I guess our only way is to have someone hack in and delete all the spam.

Or send an email to Stoner to promote specific members of the forum (mainly, the not-spambots) the power of adminship. Hopefully that will get his attention. (Typically, PMs send email notifications, and emails are sent direct to the registered email.)

Spambots have been covering up our threads! I say we KILL THEM ALL!
The question is, how? How will we get the knowledge we need to code-crack and such, to ban-hammer these mother-bluggers [I've watched the censored TV version of Robocop a few times...] and wipe them out? Or, shall we resort to absolute insanity?
