Here's the link to the vid that contains all the advice I can give on traditional manga creation. I'm making another (that will be more useful) that is a step by step tutorial of drawing, scanning, editing, inking, and coloring a video from paper to photoshop

Thanks, Sami, I passed it on to my wife and I'm sure she will check it all out whenever she feels like it. She really needs to be in the mood for these things.

I have used Windows for many years for personal use but at work I use Linux. The latter has been becoming a lot better the past few years, especially the Ubuntu distro and its derivatives. So I switched to Kubuntu (Ubuntu but with KDE interface) a few years back and I have never been happier. The only downside is lack of games and not being able to use some Mac or Windows-only software, but for the way I use my computer, those are minor issues. Apart from the tablet thing, that is also true for my wife. I have done the dual-boot thing for awhile, but I don;t like it and a virtual machine uses too many resources. As I said, my wife now has Photoshop CS2 and Manga Studio 4 on her old laptop with XP and the tablet appears to work great on that.

Thanks for all the advice. I will have her bookmark the pages so that she can read it at her leisure.

I have uploaded one picture of something she did in pastels. She has done a large number of pencil drawings of the main characters of the manga we want to create, so I'll see if she allows me to scan a few of them and share them here, but she has been reluctant so far. She's very much a perfectionist and picky when it comes to these things, so I'll see what happens.

Here's the link:

And thanks a lot for the video. It's truly appreciated.

@Nitrogen @A@ my god... your wife is amazing! seriously well done -bows-...... May I marry her too? hehe kidding I swear but yeah glad to help and tell her I love the art work please~

And here after a whole days work is the first 3 parts of my Digital Manga in Photoshop tutorial. Covers Scanning, importing, Editing, Coloring, and Screen Toning. Next 3 or so parts will be about various methods of inking in Photoshop. Sorry these are so long, but I went into detail on all I could so that's why. Hope these help the Doujin community around here

You're very kind, Sami. I'm trying to have my wife sign up here but both she and I feel that the reason we came here originally - Kodomo no Jikan - is losing its way and thus she does not feel the need. But I want to thank you for your efforts both from me and from her. I hope she can put it to good use and show you some stuff soon. She is reluctant to have me scan some of the pencil drawings she has done of the main characters of our planned manga because of past problems with people nicking her ideas, so I am afraid it will have to wait.

But I am sure it will be worth it!

Salut!

My wife said the videos were useful, especially the colouring. So thanks again!
