Default My Working Desk
Home lovely home, this my working desk.I've been away from that small but lovely space for a year.Soon I can be home and take my pen again.

And here are the rest of my old work.

The first one is a digital photo art combained of my illustration and my working desk.Welcome to my base,The big mac is on the floor,so too bad you can't see him.

And this is my longest work lasted for almost 2 months.I stoped countless times and want quit but still finished it.

The Way of OTAKU, based on the concept of the video game the way of samurai.

--.--U I knew it.....Japanese (chinese in this case) people got it.....They have the Manga-anime creative skill implanted in they DNA. It's just natural, and with the proper practice they develop that Skill to umparalleled levels. I kinda feel jaleous. It took me years to discover my skill, and barelly developed my drawing a couple of years ago, and still I need more and more practice. Samih, I can say with proud that Katame is way, way better than us. We're in front of a true master, with a little more of practice, he could be profesional or even a Mangaka.

So, kata-me, 方目, "me" as in "eye" -- Japanese pronunciation not Chinese.

It's a nickname? You have "more eyes" than most people?

I wonder if you play the game of "Go"? Me -- eyes -- that's what they call the empty spaces, the part that wins you the game.

Thanks, really.I like the realism way.In fact not much of otaku liked this way.Now is the era of MOE(萌).Just like the KNJ Style.Big eye cute girls, small face ,some of them even have no nose. And also shinny skin.My way is old fasioned. But I'm glad you like it.

And actually I learnt most of my skills from a korean artist.I can't even spell his name in English.I don't know any Korean.um, a link for reference:
??Painter 9????(?2?)/???-??-?????

I try to find a English version for you but failed, hope you can find it in English)korean ver, chinese ver have same cover, may be the English ver could be found by the cover).I'm lucky to have a Chinese version of it.Corel painter is my main creating tool. It's real painting feeling software compare to photoshop's command based painting style.I like painter's style, you don't change much from when you painted on a paper the feelings are the same, almost.

And please pay some attention to Korean artist too. They are same good as Japanese artist. And some of them even better. But it seems that they are lack of the ability of creating a good story. So most of them are illustrator but not comic writer. That means they focus all their power on the picture, without concern of the story.Korean artist are more active in Game character design etc.Where story writing is not that important.

A otaku fan will take the story first then the drawing.I'm the same.So in Otaku land Koreans are not that famous like Japanese, shame. But still when you want to learn how to draw. They could be good teacher.

@Dark Samus
Thanks for the comment. But I'm no professional at all.I also got a long way to go.It's my hobby and I will keep going. We all enjoy creat arts.

The true story of the professional creator in Japan is sad. Most of them are working poor.Especially the illustrators. The competetion is very keen. The price for art work has been put very low.The comic writer could be better because they can have the royalties on their comics and comics can be published on weekly or monthly and then tank.So they can have a much better income than most of the illustrator.Illustrators are mainly depends on the goods based on the character they design.Like Murata Renji, figures even fasion clothes. Tsukasa Jun,the same. But most of the illustrators are not that lucky(or that good) they can draw some cover for light novel and maybe publish a art book for several years. You can't say it's a well payed job.Illustrators are like ascetics, they endure the hard life but keep seeking the truth of art.

Years ago when I was a college boy I had my dream of being a illustrator, but my dad told me to face the reality. That so many people are in this bussiness and I have little chance to survive. And now I have a decent job as a librarian. And I still can seek the truth of art at my spare time.I thank my dad for his advise.

And DS, you are right about the talent thing. It's in the blood. But my force is not strong.

Anyway I still enjoy my creation though I don't live on it.

That's about me.

And about you,DS, have you ever think of going to digital?A not that good PC(compared with those crazy game PCs) or a Mac, and with a intuos tablet, and a corel painter(much cheaper and easier to use than creative suit). It will change your creation totally.I lived with oil color tubes and brushes in my old days, and any change you made to your picture is a pain in the ass.But with pure digital evironment things got much easier.I feel digital is better for MOE style of comic art, the color are pure and you can neutralize the paper pattern that affect the color. So may be digital way is better for your art style and you will have more space to give your full power of art.

May the force(of otaku and art) be with you, guys.

Thanks for the advice Once I get my new PC I'll try and get those two programs and try them out. Even if one's in Chinese I'm sure I could figure it out and find tutorials... or even an English patch I draw inspiration from artists all over the world and depending on my mood my style can change, but as a rule of thumb my style stays fairly simplistic and cartoony. I've seen a lot of Korean artwork and even comics and I love them even if my work doesn't reflect it.
You're such a modest sweet heart >w< marry me please! hehe
