Among other things, the want the Providers to be held liable for the actions of their costumers, which is de facto a duty to monitor all costumer actions and to terminate the contract if necessary. And the Logs would be perfect for all the nasty, greedy lawyers from those "nice" companies... imagine going to jail or paying X000 €/$ for loading some of - let's say - SaHa's work...

Its not about loading some movies or CDs (which I rarely do), its about freedom and privacy.

Sounds like the world could be going Cyberpunk. Granted, usually Cyberpunk
usually has corporations being so powerful that it renders the government weak, but eh... still, the government does need to know that how far they're going could actually prevent the spread of the truth, and such, and would be a violation of Freedom of Speech.

Fear for the future is not irrational. Even so, maybe we should all take up programming as a course, and for a few reasons. X3

Cutting off access to the internet plus jail time? That's rather scary. Also, the thing is, my only social life is the internet, so... Even so, I understand they're trying to protect copyright holders and prevent counterfeiting, and nothing's wrong with trying to do that, but granted, there are other ways of going about it.

Well, not everyone in the government is trash, but eh, there are a lot of selfish people in positions of authority. Since everyone wants power, well, it's pretty obvious how that goes.

In any case, well, if we all learn to be programmers we could generally figure out how programs work and such, find holes in security, as well as find ways to write programs with fewer holes in security, and perhaps even be able to patch up security holes later, etcetera.

Even so, there's another side to programming, which some people consider to be evil or bad, but others consider it to be a tool that can be wielded for good, while some consider it to be both.

So-called "good guys" would likely be anti-heroes for resorting to certain means.

Even so, my interest in programming is primarily for creating video games and things like that.

Not just against one government, but many, you mean. Even so, we're not necessarily trying to rebel against the government so much as protest the choices that it makes through action. We shouldn't hate the government in and of itself, as the purpose of such is to protect us and be beneficial to us.

Problem is, the system is broken, and it's impossible to ever have it be repaired considering the biggest flaws in the system are rigid rules that cannot be bent (which means that some people can hide behind laws in order to get away with breaking the law and causing real harm, where law enforcement cannot stop them due to the rules being incapable of being bent, yet there's a line to be drawn since there is such a thing as going too far, and with this power, it's easily abuse-able.), and that the people in charge are imperfect, and a number of them are power-hungry. (We need more meek and wise people in authority and less greedy power-hungry over-ambitious people in authority. Nothing's wrong with some ambition, but meekness and wisdom are basically qualities of a good leader.)

On another note, well, being meek is not being weak. There are a few variations of describing meekness.

"Meekness is not weakness, it is velvet-covered steel."
"Meekness is not weakness, it is strength kept in check."
"Meekness is not weakness, it is power under control."

In other words, to be meek means to know when to use power and when to not use it, and means to use power wisely with benign and humble agendas.

Personally, I believe in freedom of information, where certain forms of entertainment can be distributed freely, yet without gain of profit from those that do not hold the copyrights. In other words, if I were to create a work, I'd have no problems with other people viewing it for free, so long as they acknowledge the hard work I put into that work. So long as pirates aren't trying to profit off of my work and simply seek to expand my audience, eh, well, I could care less.

So long as the people who did the work get the credit for it, then really, that's all that matters. That isn't to say, though, that I wouldn't want to be paid for works if I were to make them. I just would want people to enjoy them and know who worked on it.

Wow, similar views? Well, my efforts are to simply distinguish us from anarchists and explain that we are simply being people who hope for some reforms and more delicate care being taken to how things are handled.
