Recently on KW's twitter, during the month she took off from writing the serialization she mentioned doing illustrations for a novel. Now I read on 2ch that a novelized version of KnJ is coming out on Jan 12, same day as tankoubon 11. It was written jointly by KW and Rika Nanase.
??????? | ????????? 2012/01 ?????????????????2012?1?12? : ????? It would be nice if this turns into a light novel series. Rika Nanase is an anime scriptwriter who has written for many series, including Kodomo no Omocha, Fruits Basket, Genshiken, Working!!, and many dozens more.

Ah, that just proves that she's getting all of her ideas from Moon-Speak, right @Schnitzel??
![]() I'm looking forward to it, I hope it can be translated. Novels are expensive. So under Thursday Jan 12, I see the announcement of Tank 11: こどものじかん 11 私屋カヲル(著) And a few lines down, THIS is the announcement of the "novel version" こどものじかん 小説版 私屋カヲル(著) 中瀬理香(著) 私屋カヲル(画) In the second link provided by @Pitahaya (thank you!) Google Translate has a hard time with the word "novelize" (ノベライズ) and talks about "Mr. Noberaizu"!!

DAMN! Well that blows my idea out of the water... She's probably secretly reading this right now looking for more ideas to steal from me...
Though I still want to read this official one! If it gets translated that is... Otherwise my project is back on track!

Probably like the manga and anime, I doubt seriously the novel will get released here on American soil. I can only hope someone will be kind enough to translate it when does eventually get released. It would be interesting to read this in order to look more into the minds of each of the characters. Especially Rin and Aoki.

--_--U Great.....now I regret even more to not have time to learn Japanese with a teacher......I think I'll have to keep with the manga....Unless of course that someone translates the novel, what I really doubt even if we are talking about KNJ.

Hmm....well we can ask Sayo to translate it, of course it probably won't come cheap. Somebody will translate it that's for sure. I'll still end up buying the novel too.

I expect and hope there would be people willing to collaborate. I have the enthusiasm but my Japanese is lousy. Perhaps when it actually comes out I could ask Sayo for a quote, as well...
BTW FWIW the First Amendment makes publishing BOOKS a lot easier than mangas, so I really could imagine that they might find a way to publish an English translation of the novelization. When it's mostly pictures, people worry more about leading children astray. I wonder if KW is thinking about trying to break into the English speaking market with the novelization?? England and Canada don't have a "first amendment" but I think the dynamics are similar.
