I think neither pron nor violent games can be banned in the USA, no matter how much certain groups would want that to happen. The reason is the First Amendment. There was a recent court case in California trying to ban certain games (if memory serves) and it did not succeed. The only way any of this can be censored is if the developer or publisher does so (as happened with KnJ), but none of them will do this because of lost revenue.

I think the case in California was that they were trying to ban the selling of violent video games to minors (You needed to prove you were over 18 to buy whatever violent game you wanted). In my personal opinion that's kind of just fanning the flames. The more you restrict people from something, the more they're gonna want it. They're planning to raise the drinking age in South Africa from 18 to 21, surely all that's gonna do is increase the amount of underage drinkers?

Stand still, Pause clocks, so we can make the world stop.

More like throwing water on a grease fire. You think your solving the problem, but instead, your making it worse. It was like when the U.S. government enacted 'Prohibition' in the 1930's to ban alcohol. That didn't exactly work either. People always find a way to get what they want, whether it be legally or illegally.

But for once they have a pretty decent reason for raising the age. It's because theres always some young hotshot who's just turned 18, decides to drink himself into a stupor and drive at 250Kph down the highway. Its because of idiots like them that others can't enjoy themselves. I'm only 17 but I'd like to at least have a drink when I turn 18, or when I'm at my matric dancE. People need to learn their limits before they ruin it for the rest of us.

Yes, Schn!tzel, you got the right idea. But now it's raised to 21 and now there are many 21-year-olds doing the same thing and the government is contemplating another raise. Where does it stop?

Exactly. Many people automatically associate age with maturity, and that's simply is not true. You could be 60 years old, but might not be able to drink responsibly. The government just assumes pushing the legal drinking age back to 21 will solve the problem, but it won't solve anything (it certainly didn't work here in the U.S.). The solution is to teach people at a younger age how to act responsibly (drinking is no exception). It's no guarantee, but it helps. Also the laws seems to punish everybody, instead of just the ones for breaking the law. That's no solution. Rights should only be taken away from the people who abuse their privileges. Wishful thinking, but it's just my thoughts. Sorry if this got off topic.

To get back on topic, the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund) works to defend people who have tried to publish/sell books under First Amendment protection and were arrested for it

For those who can afford it, probably a good place to donate some money.

Holly crap, are you me? This sounds like something I'd say. Unfortunatelly, people actually act like this, specially in USA... and as for me, all the mangas/animes who come to Brazil pass through USA before, so we have the same cuts and censors they do. What a shame...

@SCHN!TZEL

Trust me, alcohol isn't nearly as good as people make it seem to be. Most people only drink it out of habit, or to lose their shyness in social gatherings. Not worth it. Right now, i'm having a tough time at gym running to lose the belly I got these years I drank...
