Just a Random question my friends: without mentioning the fact that it`s just a manga (I`m doing it just in case of you-know-who..) First, I just don't see Reiji as purely evil any more. I really think he will want to help her.

Second -- does she even need help? I don't know. I think psychologists would say that what a person does about sex tends to be OK if it doesn't interfere with the rest of their lives too much. Rin is right on the edge of that, but she has always been ridiculously sexualized. We tend to forget -- in Chapter 1, she was joking with Kuro about porn stars. I could look up the reference. How would she even know the names of any porn stars?

Masturbation is a tough topic because according to lots of people it is something that never happens, or should never happen. And yet it is certainly close to universal among males and quite common among females. Probably the young boys in Rin's class are more likely to "wear themselves out" at that age than Rin is. But that is not what we are being shown here...

Now, admittedly, I am a guy... But considering that Rin was significantly oversexualized before her sexual awakening, the fact that she masturbates "a lot" probably isn't that unusual. (By 'a lot', I'm assuming once or twice a day.)

As for Rin's knowledge of porn stars... There's a lot of knowledge floating around out there that kids pick up peripherally. Given how heavily sex saturates the media today and the flow of information on the internet, pre-chapter 42 Rin was a girl with a lot of knowledge of sex, but nothing with which to put that information in context; she knew what sex was in literal terms, but didn't really understand it. Where she found out about porn stars is probably the same place where she found out about what a 'clit' was. (She demonstrated that she at least knew it existed at the sports festival. After Aoki tells her she 'smells like piss,' saying that she's immature, she offers to let him 'lick her clit till she cum', or some line to that effect.)

Edit: And I don't care for the masturbation panels. I thought that the now-infamous Chapter 42 was exceptionally well done and tasteful, emotionally powerful and touching; most of the stuff after that has been downright lolicon service, completely unnecessary, and detracts from the story and message.

Look guys don't worry about the masturbation situation with Rin. What she's doing right now is perfectly normal she is not in any danger. I think we should focus more on how Shirai is responding to Oyajima's confession to her, that seems to be the main target of this chapter. The parts with Rin are more like for those who are bored with the situation and just want to see fan service.

Okay, that's not completely true. I find Shirai to be an interesting character. One of my all time favorite moments in the manga and anime was Shirai wondering what kind of person she might have grown into if Kuro had been by her side.

Oyajima has always been something of a gag character, though. I don't feel as if I know enough about him to really care about his relationship with Shirai.
