So, with the release of the third ni gakki (second semester), what happens now? I haven't seen anything about any new anime, maybe a san gakki is coming? Or would they jump to the fifth grade, where they are now?
Me, I'd like to see an OVA that has them in high school together. The problem with that is, what about Kuro? When they take high school exams, I don't see any problems with Mimi or even Rin getting into the high school that they want, but Kuro's grades aren't exactly barn burning, at this time... Maybe she could pull a Tomo (from Azumanga Daioh) or Konata and cram to pass the exams... Do you think that Aoki would try to become a high school teacher so he could be close to Rin? Or would he stay where he is and deal with a high school student that hangs out at an elementary school? Or they could (like in this one doujinshi) run off together. (insert Beavis and Butthead "Breakin' the Law")

I wouldn't worry about the anime right now because the manga is getting more interesting with the development of the characters and the tension that is running through everyone's mind. We were lucky that the season 2 OVA was done but let's face it the manga keeps getting more sexually explicit, so i see very little hope of another season being made in the process.
The title of the manga is Kodomo no Jikan meaning "a childs time" in other words, it's suppose to focus the girls while they are still preteens so i don't know if K.W. will continue the growth of the girls or see them through high school.

The whole point of the story does revolve around these girls. I see Kodomo ending then it continuing under a different title for the middle school grades. With maybe a modified cast you know no Reiji or even Houin.
However, the anime is pretty much finished I think her blog basically she made statements to this, that the producers are not committing to another series of episodes or atleast dragging thier feets. I will say that a lack of premiums with both the Dvd and volume 7 does seem to show a shift in the marketing of the series. We will get an ending to the manga but not for the anime, at least not until the manga is over.

Ok, you have right Newnie, the manga is getting a little "hot" but I think itīs NOTHING compared to other mangas and Animes. I will put an example, Elfen Lied, the anime is intense, whit child abuse, gore, killing childs here and there, and things like that, Iīve read the manga, and I supose you too guys, yeah, I know, bad example, but think about it. Ok, Iīm not saying that someday weīll see an explicit sex scene betwen Aoki and Rin-chan, but who knows? The world is big, and perhaps the minds are closed now, but other example comes now; in my family this manga is now a expected event month by month, and the only thing that I had to do is show them this master piece called "Kodomo no jikan", at first I tought they gonna call the "mens in white" to get me to the Asylum, but instead, they feel interested in the manga, my brother, my mother and my father, theyīre starting to read the manga. See?, the minds are closed because the people donīt expand their concept of good or bad. The society has too many taboos, and maybe thatīs the only thing that donīt let this anime to go further, to other countries, at least, with is own license to be broadcasted. In the meantime, we can be thankfull to have someone who provide us this manga, and hope for the taboos to disapear.Thatīs all Iīve got to say, thanks for read.

Yeah Samus i did indeed read that manga. The world is not perfect and it never will be believe me if it was perfect everyone would be on the same page about everything. We are born with free will but if one event impacts to a person it affects others who are exposed of it, that shows how imperfect society is and how there will be opposers against anything anyone likes.

Samus, well said. Taboos and prejudices are something that I am often struggling with. I know that most people that I know will never consider touching KnJ or some other manga that I find interesting. I therefore don't tell them that my wife and I are making our own manga - just for fun, nothing serious (yet). Western morals and values are different from those in Japan in many ways; some are much more obvious, even blatant, while others are much more subtle. In order for me to learn about different cultures and values, I watch a lot of foreign (read: non-US) films, because it is very different from the happy endings and good guys winning of Hollywood.
Ah, I could go on and on, but you catch my drift. It saddens me that I cannot share my love for this manga and others with people close to me (wife excepted) but I guess such is life.
