This was an interesting chapter. We have Aoki's brief time in the Kokonoe household coming to an end, Shirai's relationship with Oyajima developing at a decent pace, Rin perhaps realizing that the way Aoki treats her may be more akin to fatherly affection, and Kuro discovering that her mother dates. Definitely a good read. I was surprised at how tastefully Watashiya handled the classic "can I wash your back?" scene with Aoki and Rin. Hilarious yet fitting for the story.
Plus, we finally see some real character development for Reiji. Maybe he can finally let go of the ghosts of his past, and actually live on without spiting the memory of his parents.

Kita! Kita! It's here!
So do you think she has a master plan for the story, like a timeline that sketches out the basic story all the way out to it's conclusion, or do you think she's more or less making it up as she goes? The first part was sweet, then that turned icky/funny. Wow, Oyajima and Shirai are moving forward, yay! (that was really sweet!) Chibi makes another appearance. MIMI NO ECCHI! (Without giving any spoilers...) Well, from looking at everyone wearing coats, and freezing their butts off, I'd say we're in Winter now, with a few more months to go for the last semester of thier fifth grade year. I'd say this story arc goes for the next three or four months (chapters), then Spring Break and the new school year.

I think there's at least a general plan. I'm sure some of it is made up on the fly, but many things in the story click so well, that I find it hard to believe she is just pulling it out of her ass as she goes. She might not have the story written out as far as its conclusion, though. That depends on if she has planned it to have a definite end.

@Shinobu, I think it's a little bit of a mixture of the two. I posted a while ago about the outside cover to Volume 1 (I think) which had a relationship map that predicted a WHOLE lot about what has happened since, including Oyajima and Shirai. And some of the names show forethought, black and white, Kuro and Shirai. But I also think she is flexible.
I am a little stunned by everything that happened in this chapter. I think Aoki was forced to give Reiji one big last lesson and "graduate" him. I wonder where all that will lead. @Newnonimous, you are a little harsh with the rest of us sometimes. While I don't mind the fan service aspect, obviously if that were ALL I wanted I could focus on any of 1000 others of Sayo's translations. This one is the one that people really want to think about and discuss and reread, because it honestly is a deep and well thought out work of fiction. And the family relationships and the love and caring of the characters is a fundamental reason why it is so constantly fascinating. We get drawn into caring because the girls care so much about each other, there is a magnetism from the way the characters care about each other. I thought it was touching the way Shirai found herself miserable after telling off Aoki. When she was doing it, I thought she was making herself feel good, but it was the opposite. And why was Oyajima such a zombie???

Yeah i would say the same about Watashiya's structure on the manga every writer always has a purpose to write a well explanatory plot to get us understanding the characters and the development, that's also why we have fillers right? as a means to throw something random out while developing more plot points to the story.
I did find the chapter rather interesting the way Aoki understands Reiji more and tells him that underneath the despair and pain in his heart he still loves his parents and Rin. I figured that Shirai is going to say something to Aoki about his stay at the Kokonoes but didn't expect a harsh one at that due to her times with Kuro-chan. Nevertheless, Shirai regret that conversation as she felt that simular loss in her past. Last thing, I apologize for my outburst towards you guys i didn't really meant what i said. I got distracted because some asshole pissed me off not too long ago (which i won't get into). I mean i just had a great vacation and somebody just has to ruin it for me. When i get angry enough sometimes i lose all rational thoughts and just lash out at everything. I already know about why we read this manga but as i just said i don't think while i'm upset so i hope you can forgive me on that, especially you(Ugetsu) and SusanoSasori

Well, what I like best about this group is that I often learn things. Not just insights into the plot of KnJ -- I had to look up Molossia in the Wikipedia, and I had a great time on Youtube learning about Caramelldansen. There are lots of great moving gifs out there -- I was hoping to find the KnJ girls dancing but no such luck. There is one for Lucky Star but it's really just cut and pasted from cheerleading etc.
