Nakajitos has a really excellent point, Aoki should soon start to be attracted to Rin. And it would make sense too, because Aoki is clearly not a lolicon, he's a normal guy who's just a virgin. That's probably why he never showed any genuine attraction to Rin, but as Rin is slowly growing out of childhood, perhaps now he might start being attracted to her. After all, he seemed attracted to Aki-san (thinking she was "Ai-san"), and he noted she looked like a fully grown Rin, so it could happen...

Its interesting, unlike many manga in its genre, in KnJ everything is placed for a reason, and is always brought back later, so we will probably see more of that. KnJ is surprisingly deep for an Ecchi/loli/school/romance/comedy manga.

Aoki does have feelings for Rin, re: the scene when she first broke up with him, and he says that she said she was going to be his bride. Aoki was (is) confused when he was thinking the love he has for Rin is a "fatherly" love, but I think he is coming around to try to not only help Rin, but to help Reiji too, to not think of Rin as a replacement for Aki, and to let Rin let go of Reiji, so that he can live his own life, and that she could be with Aoki without reservations or regret.

Now, once all those hurdles are overcome, then we can see if they'd tackle a 30-year old Aoki with a 16 year-old Rin. There is actually a manga that touches on this, "Faster then a Kiss", where a teacher married his 16-year old student and her little brother (who became orphaned) to get them off the street. And the story revolves about hiding it from the school and her feelings for him. Apparently in Japan, it is legal for 16 year olds to get married, and it has been shown before, that Reiji is waiting for Rin to turn 16.

Will we have to wait five more years to see what happens? I'm just wondering if she'll even move this story into middle school. Rin in a sailor suit? Way moe. Hey, I see a Ikki Tousen x KnJ cross: Kanu looking like Rin.

As I said before, Rin mentioned that Reiji was 13 years younger than her mom, because Rin is 14 years younger than Aoki. So by that reckoning, it's alright to be with her. She's trying to convince Aoki in spite of the age difference, they could have a real relationship.

That also means that the age difference between Reiji and Mimi should not be an obstacle, when she gets old enough.

Let's see... 14 year age difference, so that makes it that Aoki was 14 when Rin was born (23-9). Aoki was 20 when Aki died. It seems that Reiji was 19 when Aki died, since he was working and out of school, so Reiji should only be a year or so younger than Aoki. So now Rin is 11 and Aoki should be 26, and Reiji should be 25. Me? I'm still 29... That's my story and I'm sticking to it! (I did get carded last year!)

Man, this has been the best summer so far. I mean me and my friends payed a visit to Molossia(for those who don't know, it's a independent country within the U.S) then i was at Hawaii for 2 weeks and now i came back home just in time for the Comic-Con so i cant wait. Anyway sorry for the long absence(not that you guys probably care).

Looks like you guys have been bringing up that Aoki loves Rin.....well who else doesn't know that? Though Rin has matured since the beginning, deep down she is still unsure about it. She's only happy now because Aoki is staying with her and Reiji but what next without him. His visit has become very comforting for her but she still faces problems about herself, what she wants. It's too early to tell however for Aoki to start falling for Rin mainly because he's currently more focused on how Rin and Reiji live and how he can verify the disfunctionality among them. Within time depending if Rin has become a "Woman" perhaps Aoki may consider dating her and well you know the rest. Don't forget that Reiji must be settled with first because if that event were to suffice then all hell would break loose on Aoki and Rin. Look at the anime, if you think Reiji gets psychotic from Rin with Aoki trapped in a school gym closet, imagine him when he sees the two together, kissing and.....need i say more.

As of right now, Aoki has made it quite clear that he has no romantic interests in Rin. It's certainly true that their relationship is closer than likely should be the case between teacher and student, but the nature of it (at least on his end) is more akin to protecting her than being in love with her. The real question is whether his feelings for her will remain protective, or if they may develop into something more.

I just realized, that Aoki had no qualms about meeting "Ai" for a date. If it was only Rin, he would have not made the date. So for now anyways, it is not a romantic love that Aoki feels for Rin, although since he found himself falling for "Ai", he could fall for an older Rin. (By the way, ZURUI! I should be so damn perky!)

I loved that progression of thought in Rin's head, when Aoki came for dinner. "Okay, he has a lot of money to go out, so... dinner, then taxi, then hotel... iiii yaaaa! What have I done?

As a funny aside, today I saw an old Urusei Yatsura OVA, "Girly Eyed Measles", and it was HILARIOUS! It's an alien disease that gives boys "girly anime eyes".

Now that I got that off my chest (it would be more timely but my computer crapped out on me earlier). Anyway, the point most of us miss seems to be this nonstandard Idea of family that is developing in the overall story.
