Great! i can't wait to see your next masterpiece Samus. Perhaps a new chapter topic is in order so i'll start it right away and i'm anxious to see what the translations you will have for us Ugetsu when the raw chapter is out in a few days.

It just hit me. Remember Rin is interested in the "guiding fire" of incense for O-bon, and asks "spirits come back?" and then walks out to look up at the sky? That was a clear set-up for the message from her mother Aki. I had never connected the 2 although it is very obvious in retrospect. Of course it is not clear that Rin, or anyone "heard" Aki's message, within the story context, perhaps it was mainly for us readers.

I see it now, I was thinking it was Aoki just thinking to himself after he saw her at the gate looking for the spirit of her Mother. It does conflict I do believe with a previous statement he didn't want her to grow up too fast. Also I see in some way Aoki becoming her parent here taking the place Of Aki in the physical world. I think Houin kind of picked up on this too, that here was a deeper reason to this trip. We Realizing that Reiji seemed always put things off with Rin yet Aoki followed through with his promises to her.

I was already aware of Rin seeing her mother but to me it was only a proud moment for her and Aoki. She may try to do communicate with her mother using a wigi board or see a psychic i don't know it's just a guess. Remember though guys, this manga keeps shifting with an entirely new senario that it's hard to tell which direction is going so as i said, anything can happen.

Here is the O-bon scene I was talking about, after Kuro has made the monstrous vegetable figure. Look at Rin's face.

I think you mean't BEFORE the Kuro part all i see is Rin showing a curious face but i don't see your point. help me here.

Ugetsu

Go down to the bottom and click "PREV" to see the page before. They are talking about how they make "horses" for the ancestral spirits to ride, and they burn a fire to call the spirits back home. Rin says "spirits come back?" Thinking of Aki her mother, very clearly (to me anyway) and "they don't bother with this in the City" -- meaning that she wants a visit from Aki but they don't do the right ceremonies in Tokyo to allow it to happen. Clearer?

Yeah i get it now thanks Ugetsu. I also recall about one with when you put paper boats in the water with the candle lit inside them to guide the spirits to the afterlife(which i'm more familiar of).
