In another thread we talked about the particla "-ga" as an intensifier, and about various forms of the verbs "to like" or "to love" -- kono, suki, daisuki, and ai, attempting to untangle when the different forms are used.
One interesting example is in Book One, when Rin distracts Aoki from Houin by pretending that her leg is hurt. Naturally Aoki offers to carry her home and she gives him bogus directions which take him back to the school, and somehow needles him into saying that he likes her. Then she jumps down and runs home on her own, and (from the bathtub) tells Reiji that "someone at school" had said he liked her. Naturally the verb here is "suki" and he lessens the impact by saying "suki Kokonoe."
