Thanks, Kikiskeeter, this makes things clear.

The publishers are idiots. While what they are doing is in their legal right to do so - and they should do so to keep their shareholders 'happy' - they are idiots for not having filled up this void in the market that mangahelpers, onemanga, mangafox and others filled for them. In addition, there will be plenty of manga that will not get translated e.g. the one we love talking about here, simply because some dumb people find the content too controversial, so instead of growing up they petition the powers that be not to publish it. In addition, when I was living in Canada, a translated manga was typically $12 while in Japan they are half the price (I bought a suitcase full of them during both my business trips there). Granted, the translators and the overseas publisher need to make money too, but to double the price? I could end up spending thousands of euros on manga LOL

Now, some of you are asking where to get the raws. Newnonimous, you are using perfect dark too, right? Perhaps we can write a tutorial about how to use that? I get my raws from there, though I cannot find everything. What I suspect will happen now is that new websites will pop up in the place of mangahelpers, and they will place the raws on rapidshare, megaupload and so forth. The publishers can fight this, but they cannot stop it; at least not until they fill this market hole.
